List of ideas that can bring smiles to your kid!

Parenterest is a visual discovery website for finding ideas for the kid's activity. It helps parents to search for activities depending on the situation like indoors or outdoors. It also gives you to share and connect with other parents with their kids.

Built

in Figma

Problem Statement

Asset 51_2x.png

Searching the internet to filter adequate information can often be very time-consuming, especially for parents juggling work and their children's education. Simultaneously.

In their time away from work, they want to spend more time with their children in a fun and educational way. They need the correct information to decide what activity to do and access information and support online.

Goal

Asset 50_2x.png

Take the pan away from parents who want to do fun and educational activities for their children.

Build a list of activities based on the number of kids, places, and other related situations

Give the option to like the activity and save it in the profile.

Design Process

I used double diamond design process which fit perfectly to this type of project.

User Interviews

To understand better the problem we should move to the next step - User Interview. Detailed answers from respondents that are actually based on their own experience helped to understand better the user's needs and expectations from the app. Based on quantitative research results, we decided to target middle-aged users who already have faced the situation. The interview lasted a bit over 30 minutes and here are some key points.

What do they usually do to find activities or ideas?
What types of activity do they do? (for example indoor, outdoor, with groups, etc.)
How do they apply ideas? How often, and how much?

What did you like? What didn't you like?
What would make it easier for them?
Do you have trouble finding information?

Tell me about the last time you went online to find activities to do
What have you found that has been helpful or amazed you
What would you expect to find online (website etc)?

Key Insights from Interview

Users want to get notifications weekly for new activities.

Playdate with friends and their kids.

Activities that can help improve attention span.

Activities that make connections with children of the same age.

An easier way for search activities.

Worry about the hygiene condition of meeting other kids.

Usability Testing

The prototype was first tested on main flow wireframe in to define the overall workability of the app, later on I’ve moved prototyping to the final design to better realize what the user should deal with.

Key Goals:

  • Can users navigate to the Activity page easily and select the appropriate activity?

  • Can users save an activity easily?

  • Can users find their saved activities easily?

Implementing Changes

Minor UI fixes were applied to the app after playing with Figma mirroring.

  • Make the AR scanning feature more obvious

  • Add text to buttons on the scanning screen

  • Notifications and visual feedback when completing certain tasks

Thank you for watching till the end!
